2021 Volvo SA Cruise (AKA The Volvo Nationals) (SA) *POSTPONED TILL 2022*

The Volvo Car Club of South Australia are pleased to host the 2021 Australia National gathering of Volvo Car enthusiasts.

We are proposing a 4 to 7 day event centred around a few locations in South Australia. The 7 day itinerary begins at Broken Hill (NSW) from where participants may travel as a group to the final destination of Hahndorf, east of Adelaide. The last 4 days of the event are based in Hahndorf in the Mt Lofty Ranges just to the east of Adelaide. You may of course choose to join the Cruise at any point depending on your circumstances.

ITINERARY (PRELIMINARY) MONDAY, 7TH JUNE:

PLAN TO ARRIVE IN BROKEN HILL (NSW)

• Two night stay in Broken Hill

• A light evening (or BBQ) meal to welcome cruise participants.

TUESDAY, 8TH JUNE:

EXPLORE AROUND BROKEN HILL

• Underground Mine tour (Day Dream Mine) $32 / A, $12 / C

• Visit Silverton and local museums galleries $10 per location

• Visit to RFDS base visitors centre $10

• Visit Living Desert and Sculptures (best around late afternoon) free

• Evening meal at Club Bistro (or similar). Own Cost.

WEDNESDAY, 9TH JUNE:

CONVOY TO QUORN (SA) – 411KM

• Two night stay in Quorn

• Lunch at Yunta or Peterborough (or somewhere in between). Own Cost

• Visit Pichi Richi Rail Workshop or Powell Gardens Free

• Evening meal at the Austral Inn, the Transcontinental, or the Quorn Hotel. Own Cost.

THURSDAY, 10TH JUNE:

EXPLORE AROUND QUORN OR PLAN TO ARRIVE AT HAHNDORF

• Chauffeured 4WD tour into Southern Flinders Ranges (possible full day trip including lunch) $220 - $250 / A

• Self drive thru Southern Flinders to Blinman for Lunch, return via Parachilna. Own Cost.

• Pichi Richi Explorer train trip (half day trip) $55 / A

• Evening meal at the Austral Inn, the Transcontinental, or the Quorn Hotel. Own Cost

Otherwise – plan to arrive at Hahndorf (SA) - (for those not joining us via Broken Hill or Quorn)

• Four night stay in Hahndorf at the Hahndorf Resort ( Adelaide Hills Convention Centre - AHCC)

• Evening meal @ Three Gums Bistro (at the Resort) to welcome cruise participants Own Cost

FRIDAY, 11TH JUNE:

BUNGAREE STATION LUNCH CLARE VALLEY

• Depart Hahndorf / Quorn for Bungaree Station – ~175km from either direction

• Bungaree Station tour followed by catered lunch at Station Woolshed $30 / A

• Return / Continue to Hahndorf – exploring Clare / Burra / Mintaro localities

• ‘Reception Function’ 7pm onwards at AHCC $25 / A

SATURDAY, 12TH JUNE:

OPTIONS: MONARTO/THE BEND OR FLEURIEU PENINSULA SELF DRIVE

• Monarto Zoo guided tour $32 / A, $17 / C

• McLaren Vale (d'Arenberg Cube Winery options)

• Mannum / Murray Bridge for lunch, or • Victor Harbor/Goolwa (Lunch options)

• Lunch @ Bend Motorsport Park (Facility tour t.b.a.) $30 / A • Strathalbyn returning via Mt Barker

• Evening meal - BBQ at Adelaide Hills Convention Centre $40 / A

SUNDAY, 13TH JUNE:

NATIONAL MOTOR MUSEUM - BIRDWOOD

• Display cars in grounds of Museum Free

• Fully catered BBQ Lunch included

• Free afternoon to explore Barossa Valley

• Farewell Dinner at AHCC $60 / A

MONDAY, 14TH JUNE:

DEPART FOR HOME OR EXPLORE SA FURTHER!

• Breakfast provided by club at Resort’s Camp Kitchen Free

• May have another opportunity to visit Bend Motorsport Park. TBC.

The primary accommodation will be the Hahndorf Resort (and Adelaide Hills Convention Centre), hence will be our base of operations for the later part of the Cruise. The Hahndorf Resort caters for a wide range of accommodation styles from caravan sites thru to luxury villas.

The Volvo Car Club of SA has secured a blanket reservation on pretty much the entire facility, so there will be plenty of time to organise a room style to suit your requirements. Accommodation pricing is being finalised and a guide will be distributed with the Expression of Interest forms. Accommodation options for Broken Hill and Quorn are yet to be determined.
