This run was such a great day out last year that we have made it an annual event. With two routes to choose from one North and one south to meet at Somerset Dam, or make your own way there. With invites going out to other clubs and the Classic Car Community to join us.
The All British Classics Car Club (ABCCC) QLD would like to extended an invitation to all other classic car clubs and enthusiasts join us on Sunday 21st of July for the clubs Annual Invitation Picnic Run to Spit Lake Park Somerset Dam. This central location will allow people located either on the North side or South side to meet and proceed to the venue with three options. Either to make your own way there, or join one of the two drives departing from the North side or South side of Brisbane. Meeting at Spit Lake Park between 11:00 - 11:30, parking at the southern car park, first right after entering the front gates.
The meeting points to join the drives are:
BP Caboolture, Bruce Hwy North Bound, Caboolture
or
Goupong Park , Namatjira Dr, Redbank.
You can enjoy a BYO lunch (council BBQ’s are available) and bring some chairs for a relaxing picnic. There is The Somerset General Shop a kilometre down the road as well if you would like to grab something.
North-side Route:
Meeting at the BP Truck-stop north bound, Bruce Hwy ,Caboolture. Sunday 21st of July at 9:45am for a 10:00am departure.
Leaving the BP and heading north on the Bruce Hwy and then taking the DÁguilar Hwy Kilcoy Exit, then following the DÁguilar Hwy to Woodford. Just past Woodford take Neurum Rd on your left to Villeneuve, follow this until it meets back up to the DÁguilar Hwy turning left to Kilcoy. Following the signs through Kilcoy to Esk route 85 and then left at Esk-Kilcoy Rd to Somerset Dam. Then, keep a eye out for the sign that reads The Spit 400m ( about 20k’s along Esk-Kilcoy Rd, and then take the exit off to the left to the The Spit Lake Park. Upon entering the park through the main gates take the first road to your right up to the parking area. Here you will find a stop to park up and set up away from the boat ramp. Approx 1 Hr (83 km)
South-side Route:
Meeting at Goupong Park , Namatjira Dr, Redbank. Sunday 21st of July at 9:45am for a 10:00am departure.
Leaving Goupong Park and heading back to the Ipswich motor way travelling west to Ipswich. Following the M2 to the Esk/South Burnett exit A17 follow A17 to Wivenhoe /Somerset Rd turning right then right at Esk/Kilcoy Rd to Somerset Dam. Then turn right into The Spit ( look for the blue sign), Upon entering the park through the main gates take the first road to your right up to the parking area. Here you will find a stop to park up and set up away from the boat ramp. Approx. 1 Hr (83km).
Both of these drive will be driving straight through to the location with no planned stops.
