Calling all Mercedes enthusiasts. A drive to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the R107. You do not need one to attend this event. Any Mercedes will do, and you don't need to be a member of the Mercedes Club ACT to attend.
In April 1971, volume production of the all-new Mercedes-Benz R107 SL began, a car that would go on to become an automotive icon, a status symbol, a car of inspiration and the poster child of an entire generation. Adored by the rich and famous, the R107 SL would remain in production and in demand for a full 18 years.
To celebrate this classic icon the clubs R 107 owners will lead us on a scenic day drive combining the tranquility of the south coast with the majestic Kangaroo Valley and Southern Highlands.
After navigating the Clyde we’ll turn left at the Princess Highway stopping at Milton for a coffee. Whilst there, take the opportunity to wonder around this beautiful township, all its heritage appeal and numerous boutique shops (my wife is more than happy to head up a shopping expedition).
The road will then take us to the beautiful township of Huskinson stopping for lunch. The Husky Pub is situated overlooking the ocean and river inlet offering a fantastic lunch.
After leaving Huskinson we’ll travel via Kangaroo Valley up the scenic Moss Vale Road, stopping at the Fitzroy Falls for a bopeep (allowing the stragglers to catch-up). Time permitting we’ll stop again at Moss Vale for a walk around before taking the Exeter Road through Bundanoon and Penrose joining the Hume Highway at Marulan taking us back to the Nation’s Capital.
Being a Saturday if anyone is interested in taking the opportunity to stay overnight on the coast returning Sunday please feel free to book your favorite Hotel – life is to be enjoyed!
Complimenting this event, will be a run with with Mercedes Benz Club NSW to the National Motoring Heritage Day in Berry on the 16/5. Look elsewhere on the Mercedes Club ACT Event Registration page for details.
