Phoenix Charlestown Baseball Fundraiser for Pink4Piper.

Miss Piper Kelly’s father played baseball for Our Club in July 2021 Piper’s Family received the news that no family should ever have to hear - their darling 4 year old daughter Piper was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), an incurable and untreatable brain tumour.

This was devastating - Mum Janelle, Dad Chris and Piper's brothers, Alex (10) and Lachlan (6) - were told Piper would only live for 6-9 months from diagnosis.

Piper underwent the only standard palliative treatment for DIPG, being daily radiation therapy over 6 weeks. They moved their family from Newcastle to Sydney for that time and supported Piper through the treatment.

Piper responded very well to radiation and the tumour shrunk significantly, doctors were confident, she would live longer than her original prognosis. Unfortunately, this was not the case and Piper passed away in February last year, just 7 months after being diagnosed.

Piper had a love for cars with her brothers with mum driving a WRX going seeing cars at Car Meets shows was something they all loved to do.

Her brothers love to still go spend time doing this so our club is looking at holding a Annual event in Piper’s memory so the family can make memories seeing all the cars making new friends in her memory.

Funds raised will go to continue to support the Kelly family honour Piper and to other families experiencing loss.
