A weekend festival of historic motorsport, live entertainment and period atmosphere is coming to Australia’s oldest hillclimb track for the inaugural Rob Roy Revival at Christmas Hills in the Yarra Valley on 18 and 19 March 2023.
Car clubs will also have an opportunity to participate, with up to 100 classics from the era on display each day. Clubs should contact the event organisers by emailing revival@mgcc.com.au to discuss participating.
Early bird tickets are on sale until 28 February. This is a fully ticketed event, so booking online is essential. Go to https://www.robroyrevival.mgcc.com.au/ for more information and to book your tickets.
Organised by the MG Car Club Victoria in collaboration with the Victorian Historic Racing Register, Rob Roy Revival will see 75 invited historic racing cars competing. Australian Champion Driver John Bowe AM is the event Patron and will also drive in the hillclimb. The Rob Roy paddock will be lined with marquees, where spectators will be able to get up close to the cars and talk to the drivers and crew.
The Rob Roy Revival will recreate the atmosphere of 1950s and 60s motorsport with spectators encouraged to dress in period style.
The first Rob Roy Revival will be a tribute to Garrie Cooper’s Elfin marque, with William Atherton, Bill Bentley, Daniel Jeffries and Colin Sullivan already entered in Elfin Streamliners, Kevin Miller in an Elfin 300, Matthew Scott in an Elfin 600 and Shane Lee in his Elfin Formula Vee.
Other confirmed entries include Lola Formula Fords, McLaren and Lotus sports racing cars, the historic Ausca Holden sports racer and Cooper-Irving hillclimb special, Cooper S Minis, Austin 7’s and MG Specials.
There will be a range of gourmet food and beverage options, along with market and trade stalls. Live music and fashion shows will be presented from the stage, with the well-known 50s style diva Lisa Defazio as MC. Everyone is encouraged to wear their best vintage 50s and 60s gear and there will be fashion awards presented each day. Period dress will be required for attendees to enter the paddock area.
Rob Roy Revival is supported by Motorsport Australia and our generous sponsors, the Victorian Historic Racing Register, Penrite, Racer Industries, Century Batteries, Shannons Insurance and Apex Steel.
