Paris-based Artcurial Motorcars reports sales totalling $41.7 million at its three-day collector car auction held this past week during Retromobile, Europe’s big winter — and this year very late winter because of pandemic postponement — classic car exhibition.
“Bidding was strong throughout the sales, both on the telephone, in the room and on the internet, with many new record prices achieved over the weekend,” the auction company said, noting an 82 percent sell-through rate.
“Despite covid restrictions still making travel complicated for some, international buyers and sellers were very much present, both in person, on the phone and the internet,” Artcurial added. “Foreign buyers accounted for 4 percent of the sale total.”
