2003 Chevrolet SSR

Posted 6 years ago by
In 2003, Chevrolet rolled out a product that melded a sports car, pickup truck, and convertible into one. The problem was, it didn't perform any of the three functions very well. The Chevy SSR (Super Sport Roadster) only lasted until 2006, and only about 25,000 were built. One of the car's – er, truck's – problems was that it was built on a heavy SUV chassis, so even the 300-horsepower V8 it came with for its first few years couldn’t make it as fast as it looked. By the time Chevrolet put a bigger V8 under the hood, the SSR was on its last legs. If you’re looking for a used SSR for your collection, you should focus on the later model years. You’ll get the bigger engine and avoid some of the build quality issues common to early models. Source - https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/weird-cars
