Razor!
Following on from my recent post about Brian Imlach’s 34 Chevy, I’m super lucky to be exposed to some awesome cars with my job at Deluxe Rod Shop.
One such car that’s back at Deluxe is the Razor Coupe.
I had the pleasure of a little photoshoot recently just up the road from the Deluxe workshop in Yea.
What a car!! Here’s the stats….
'RAZOR'
1934 Ford 3 Window Coupe

Chassis
⁃ Kugel Components independent front suspension with Shockwave Airide bags
⁃ 6 piston front brakes and 4 piston rear brakes by Wilwood
⁃ Schott wheels 17 x 7" front and 18 × 8.5"rear
⁃ BF Goodrich tyres 205/40/17 front and 255/45/18 rear
⁃ Deluxe 2.5" stainless steel exhaust, with custom one-piece tail pipe
⁃ Winters quick change rear-end with Lakes stainless steel 4 bar
Engine/Drive Train
⁃ 6.2ltr LS2 alloy with cross ram trumpet injection
⁃ Billet specialties Tru Trac and custom coil pack sump
⁃ TKO 600 5 speed gearbox, metallic satin olive green
⁃ Aluminium radiator with Deluxe fan shroud

5.5" bobbed rear guards and tank cover
Handmade steel inner guards and bonnet sides
One piece punch aluminium floor pan
Windscreen opened up 2.5" for improved vision

Interior
One-piece Alucobond formed door trims
⁃ One piece headliner and rear window garnish
⁃ Glide seat in avocado leather and box weave carpet by Mark Grant, Dynamic Trimming
⁃ Wiring by Scott Green, SG Auto Electrics
This car was not the product of an endless budget, however, hundreds of workshop hours were given to produce the standard you see today.
Inner Guard
Hand blocked out, and file finished from 1mm steel.
Air bag lines, and headlight wiring are run through the oval holes.
Cage nuts fitted, for ease of guard fitment.
Front Apron
Bottom swage on three panels, to high-light ARP bolts with Deluxe hand turned washers.
End oval holes to access radiator bolts.
Oval theme also continued into front of chassis rail.
Fan Shroud
Hand fabricated from 1.6mm aluminium sheet.
English wheeled/pull maxed into shape and file finished from one piece of aluminium.
Fan motor is mounted in a billet holder.
Keeps car at running temperature of 82 deg. even at 8000pm on dyno.
Grill/Radiator
Grill top changed for flush fit to suit hand fabricated one-piece aluminium radiator top,
Oval holes have been added to expose polished radiator tank.
Guards/Tank Cover
Rear guards and tank cover shortened 5"
Tank cover has been widened to compensate rear guards.
Windscreen
Windscreen has been opened up 2.5" for improved vision, ergonomics of the owner’s height, and outside cleaner appearance.
Boot
One piece aluminium boot trims with swaged compartment.
Rolled, blocked and filed into shape, for ease of direct leather covering.
Hand fabricated fuel tank, with stainless steel tank straps
Window Moulds
Fabricated out of aluminium, to compliment door trims, Then blocked out and painted satin green.
They also highlight leather through the oval holes.
Roof Trim
One-piece light weight cardboard headliner, with centred decorative strip.
It incorporates interior light and highlights suede through oval holes. finished in satin green paint/
Rear Window Panel
Hand rolled from Alucobond (thin aluminium/nylon plastic sheet) and smoothed for direct fitment of suede.
Dash/Steering Wheel/Gear Stick
Dash has been lowered 1.5" for vision and to cover air-conditioning unit.
Demister vents have been incorporated into top of dash.
Steering wheel was polished and rubbed to satin texture to match wheels.
Gear stick and knob have been five axis.
CNC milled, polished and brushed satin.
Door Trims
Have been hand blocked out from Alucobond sheet to create arm rests.
Inner door has been extended to incorporate spear.
Because of the door trim design, it only requires the door handle, and one bolt off the speaker grill to hold it in place.
Coil Sump Pack
Ignition coils are mounted on the sump of the engine.
Enclosed in coil sump pack cover, with leads proceeding out of oval holes, through custom CNC machined billet engine mounts.
Intake Manifold
Intake throttle bodies were mirror polished and hand painted satin green, with all screws/bolts mirror polished.
Intake trumpet throats satin finished with trumpet ends mirror polished to match wheels.
Over 150 hours were put into this intake.
Engine Block
Sump was blocked smooth with 400 grit.
Aluminium CNC milled engine mounts, were polished with satin high-lights, and they also incorporate the engine leads.
Oval punch holes were panel bonded onto block and painted.
Timing cover was hand linished and mirror polished.
Brakes/Diff
Every bolt was replaced by ARP bolts throughout the whole brake/calliper and diff fixings.
All bolts were 800 grit linished on faces, and mirror polished. Whilst any ends of exposed threads were attended to.
Four bar bolts were 6 hours each bolt to finish.
Exhaust
Exhaust was hand fabricated from 2.5"
Stainless steel mandrel bends.
Exhaust tip was hand fabricated and linished with 800 grit and machine polished.
Headers were hand fabricated, tig welded and HPC coated.
ARP Bolts/ Cup Washers
Two individual step drills were machined to create ARP bolts to recess into hand turned cup washers.
Over 300 hours to produce these washers throughout the car.
Rear Fender
Inside of guards were filled and smoothed, blocked back in polyester and painted to a smooth finish.
Stone guard highlights were used, and when suspension is at minimum height, the stone guard is hidden to produce a nicer finish when car is being displayed.
But practical when being driven.
Taillight Wiring
Polished stainless-steel tube was rolled into shape, to run taillight wiring from light to the body.
Finished off with machined washers at each end, and nylon gromets.
This car was built from start to finish, with the end result in mind, a nice car.
Planning and thinking ahead, created ease of finished product, with a time frame and budget in mind.
Please take time to consider, this car has a use after the show.
