◾️When did you get the car/how long have you had it?
I purchased it from my grandparents 5yrs ago.
◾️Why do you love your car?
Since I can remember, cars have always been an obsession of mine. This car means so much to me being that it used to be owned by my late grandfather. We created so many amazing memories with this little car every drive we shared. It started out with me pestering Pa just to take me for a ride in the A before I got my license, to a time we were out on a drive and Pa just out of nowhere pulled up and gave me the keys and offered me that first drive of the A. I remember that feeling of how raw the car felt, the feel of the big steering wheel, that putter of the twin SUs and that unforgettable smile he gave me.
◾️Does the car have a name and why?
No it doesn’t and funnily enough my grandfather and I spoke many times about this however never came up with a name for it. My 2-year-old has nicknamed it Papa’s car.
◾️What restoration/modifications have been performed on the car?
The car was originally white and driven daily until it underwent a full body off restoration in 1984 and the colour was changed to red as my grandfather was a fireman and apparently it needed to be red.
◾️How often do you drive your car?
The little A was a way of giving my grandfather relief and distraction from his worsening dementia and Alzheimers. He would always enjoy a regular monthly drive out in the A reminiscing and enjoying a few laughs. The car now does get driven regularly. I put an effort into trying to drive it at least once to twice a month.
◾️Have you always been into cars, and if so, what other cars have you had?
I have always loved cars and been through a few more modern than classics including Fords, BMWs, Toyotas, Minis, MX5s, Skylines and a few race/track cars. The Porsche GT3RS and the AC cobra still await!
◾️What was your first car?
My first car was a 1995 Ford Fairmont with the standard first car mods: lowered, exhaust, aftermarket wheels, stereo etc.. I have a really strong passion for detailing, and this was one of the cleanest cars I have had!
