Rod’s Camaro!

Posted 4 years ago by Plymouth Dale Photos

I run into Rod at just about every local show I go to and although Chevy Camaro's aren’t necessarily my all time favorite vehicles, there’s something about this bright yellow Z28 that sucks me in every time. And I’ve got plenty of pics of it to prove it!!

Classic Car Quiz #7

CAMARO

◾️Name of owner - Rod Aumann.

◾️Car make and model - 1980 Z28 Chevy Camaro.

◾️When did you get the car/how long have you had it?

12 months.

◾️Why do you love your car?

American Muscle car, something different and eye catching.

◾️Does the car have a name and why? Obnoxious, due to bright yellow color and exhaust “note”.

◾️What restoration/modifications have been performed on the car?

I haven’t done a lot. It is pretty much stock inside apart from the hurst shifter. The engine has had a lot of work from the original 350 to being a stroked 383, cam, roller rocker top, new inlet manifold with 750 cfm double pumper carby and air cleaner, new coil over rear shock/springs, and 2500 rpm stall converter.

◾️How often do you drive your car?

As much as I can but only just changed to club plates.

◾️Have you always been into cars, and if so what other cars have you had?

Always liked old cars but was time poor. Only now that I have matured and have a little more time, to attend car shows and play with the car. Only have the two old cars, plus the daily.

◾️What was your first car?

Mustard yellow 1976 Toyota Corona...had it for 6 months before and after getting my licence, then upgraded to a 3 year old VH commodore.

This car was built in Van Nuys, California, and delivered to another state in the US. It was imported into Australia and in 1992 was converted to RHD here in Melbourne. It spent from 2012-2019 in a shed in Heathmont, not driven due to the age of previous owner. It was then sold to my mechanic who got it back on the road. His father who used to live next door to me, brought it around and I had to have it. As a Richmond tragic, having a bright yellow car with black interior would have been enough, but 1980 is also a Richmond premiership year. Had to be mine.

HJ HOLDEN

◾️Car make and model - 1975 HJ Holden Premier wagon.

◾️When did you get the car/how long have you had it? 2014.

◾️Why do you love your car?

Never owned a V8 and this came along as a bit of an impulse buy but as a project car as well.

◾️Does the car have a name and why? No name.

◾️What restoration/modifications have been performed on the car? Heaps. New inlet manifold, carby and air cleaner, springs front and rear, new seats, complete redone the whole rear vinyl/ faux leather and roof liner.

◾️How often do you drive this car?

Not much at the moment.
