It was with mixed emotions that I attended the Mansfield Classic Holden Nationals yesterday.
Mixed, because I arrived on day 2 of a scheduled 5 day event looking forward to seeing some great cars and meeting some devoted enthusiasts, but left after the event was forced to be postponed due to Victoria’s snap 5 day Covid lockdown.
It couldn’t be worse timing.
Such a disappointment to the organizers and attendees that had obviously been working on this event for a long time.
The picturesque Victorian town of Mansfield was the venue and I saw cars from South Australia, ACT, NSW and Tasmania as well as many Victorian vehicles from all around this state.
A huge commitment for everyone which was frustratingly cut short. And also a disappointment to local businesses that would have benefited from the influx of attendees.
Luckily I was able to take a lot of pics of the scheduled street display in town before the cancellation.
Some magnificent Holdens from every era covering the years 1948-1980 were represented. Everything from stock original to fully restored to wild custom. Lots to see and admire.
I really hope that the organizers can find a way to make this happen again. A tough ask indeed, but I’m sure that everyone would love to finish what was started.
Cheers,
Plymouth Dale.
